I set up a Word Press website for my genealogical research ‘business’ and also another one where I could place my sermons and other non-genealogical thoughts, so I felt I had sufficient expertise to set up one for our Society.

The trouble is, unless you use Word Press dashboard daily you soon forget the different ways of changing or modifying things. Over the next few weeks this website will change and be altered, items added to it and have something removed as I feel my way around the Word Press dashboard again adding, subtracting and making each page beautiful but also useful!

Our hope is that this page will have news of our next meeting right up front, a searchable database of all the Quarterly Newsletters we have issued over the past twenty-five years; a similar database of all our library books, and information on the Society, its aims, constitution, office-bearers and previous AGM information including minutes, chairman’s report and annual financial statement. Some of the items could be on page requiring a password – in other words a Members Only page. Do you think this a good idea?

I believe that people only come to a website to get information – for example I used the eGSSA site for many years to get gravestone information and because of that usage, I’ve now joined eGSSA. Can you think of any items we can place on our site to attract people to the site and through that encourage them to become members?

We have email addresses attached to this site so shortly I’ll be adding a Contact page for you to send your ideas to, or put a comment below.
